My favourite episode of the Being Freelance podcast - Charles Commins

When Being Freelance hit its 200th episode, we asked what your favourite episode so far had been and invited you to tell us in no more than 200 words. Charles was the only one who stuck to the brief. Gold star Charles.

Charles Commins’ favourite episode of the Being Freelance podcast

The episode - Matt Hill: Just keep meeting people!

Charles says:

When I quit my job and became freelance, I scoured the internet for articles, videos and blogs for help.

I’d never worked for myself before and I was bricking it. I still am to be fair, but I have found a way to hide it!

As part of that search, I was also looking for people within my field - audio. This was when I found the Being Freelance podcast and Matt Hill’s episode in particular.

Matt’s episode was exactly what I needed at the time. Even though it really doesn’t matter what Steve’s guests do for a living, the fact that Matt does what I aspire to do provided a brilliant entry point.

I like to think that I embrace Matt’s words in that I try and meet as many people as possible and by doing that, work will come. And so far it really has worked.

Through joining the Being Freelance Facebook community I’ve met and produced work for people who I would never have had the chance to meet before. The fact that this quote (“Just keep meeting people!”) is on my Being Freelance bookmark is a constant reminder of how much I love this advice and the Being Freelance podcast.
